The granddaughter of Toyokichi and Isa Domae of Mio, Wakayama and Kumematsu and Kimi Tanaka of Aisho-cho, Shiga, Lisa Domae is a passionate advocate for the transformative role of education in community development. She is rooted in her work as North Island College (NIC) President and CEO, a role she took on in April 2021. A geographer and urban planner, she holds a PhD from the University of Victoria. She is a registered professional planner (RPP) and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. Lisa works to educate Canadians about the histories of Japanese Canadians on Vancouver Island. She lives in the Comox Valley, on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation.
