アルバータ州の片田舎で生まれ育ち、日本に住んで約30年。芦屋市在住。カルガリー大学ギリシャ・ラテン文学科卒業。カルガリー大学にてギリシア・ラテン文学修士号取得。レスター大学にて応用言語学修士号取得。現在、神戸の甲南大学で英語学の准教授として、主に理系英語とグローバル・リテラシーを教える。ここ数年は、第二次世界大戦直後に日本に強制送還された日系カナダ人のライフヒストリーを研究・執筆しており、特に彼らが戦後の日本での生活にどのように適応したかに焦点を当てている。現在は、三尾（和歌山）にルーツを持ち、ブリティッシュ・コロンビア州で水産加工・卸売業と日本食品輸入業を営む日系カナダ人一家の家族史も研究している。
Born and raised in rural Alberta and has lived in Japan for about 30 years, presently living in
Ashiya city. BA in Greek and Latin Literature from University of Calgary. MA in Greek and Latin Literature from University of Calgary. MA in Applied Linguistics from Leicester University. Presently is Associate professor of English language at Konan University in Kobe where he is mainly teaching English for Science and Global Literacy courses. For the past several years he has been researching and writing life histories of Japanese Canadians who were deported to Japan right after World War II, especially focusing on how they adjusted to life in post-war Japan. Presently he is also researching the family history of a Japanese Canadian family which has roots in Mio (Wakayama) and is engaged in fish processing and wholesaling as well as a Japanese food import business in British Columbia.
